Sew Saturday Low Down
On the run up to sew sat there were lots of late night and early starts. Its one of those events you don’t really know what to expect. Whether you have 5 people or 100’s you still need to put in the same work. It was great to see all the ideas I had conjuring up in my head become reality, well most of them but hey they can be for another day 😉
I know there were a number of you that it didn’t suit to come and I want to thank your for your very kind best wishes and encouragement.
Also a big thank you to each and everyone who did come and make the day a success, I really hope you did enjoy it and take all in and feel inspired. I really did enjoy your company and hearing all about what is on your sewing table or what was about to be.
Many thanks to you all who entered a cushion for our competition to win a sewing box, I know you all went to great efforts and took a lot of time over your pieces! Also thanks to everyone who helped judge. Here is Dorothy with her winning cushion and sewing box. (couldn’t mange to get her pic turned around)
The Great British Sewing Bee had a bit of an influence on our day with poster and flyers for your to take which the producers had popped in the post to take part in next years Sewing Bee, we also had a couple of our New Dressmaking patterns from one of the previous contestants of the sewing bee 😉
We had sewing patterns and kits from other independent retailers which I had some made up and some which were a work in progress
I had great fun the day before opening lots of new deliveries of fabrics, was like Christmas with the surprise of what was inside each. Before I left work that evening I had to count just how many new rolls and bolts had arrived.. a fab amount of 46!!
It was great to see so many of you take the weight of your feet and make the sew sat mascot ‘Aly Owl’ This was a fab wee project for all ages and both male and female 😉
Special thanks to Heather for donating some of her crochet handiwork to advertise upcoming crochet evenings
Also to Alan and Julie in Woodview Restaurant for handing our their complimentary cuppas with every purchase.
Due to diversifying into fabric yarn and haberdashery I have had the joy of meeting lots of new people whom I now call my friends. I can’t go without say a big thank you to Mairead, Anne-Marie, Daphne and Denise for letting me use their handiwork to dress the barn for the day. To be honest I can’t tell you how glad I was to get it all back to them safe and sound.
Thanks to my hubby and Children who have been incredibly patient with my late nights, and taking over the dining room/house for the last number of weeks.
My Team of helpers and back up for the day – Brian, Glynis, Marilyn and Mum. THANK YOU!
And to Holly, Thank you. If you remember I had the privilege of doing her wedding flowers back in September. She very kindly allowed me to use her signage and tassels to dress the barn. I think you would agree it really did create a brilliant welcome.
