Easy Peasy Pom Poms

I’m sure you can all remember cutting out circles from cardboard boxes as a little person and wrapping wool round and round them, which seem to go on and on although the end result was always very rewarding and was a great project to keep little people occupied for a good length of time.

Well, if you haven’t seen these Pom Poms makers before then your in for a treat.

They are brilliant!! So quick and easy to use!

All you need is a bit of scrap yarn (who doesn’t have that?!) and your set.

First open out the sides. Then just wrap the yarn around both sections….

Close the sides, then snip it all the way around…

and tie it up nice and tight…

DSCN1112

Open out the sides again and pull the pom pom maker apart and viola!

DSCN1113

One super fuzzy pom-pom! Make loads, string them up and you’ve got a lovely garland!

These come in a set of 4 (3.5cm, 5.5cm, 7cm and 9cm) and are £6.90 for the set.

Too Blessed To Be Stressed

Back In August, which only feels like a couple of weeks ago as it feels like I havne’t seen the months passing by and can hardly believe we are near at the end of another, I had the beautiful wedding of David and Sarah.  Another fab couple!

Sarah abosulty loved daisy’s so that was off course her main request.  They gave a very natural, informal country feel to her displays.

Unfortunately again time didn’t allow me to get good snaps but here are a few I managed to squeeze in at the Church, which is were I met David and seen his BRILLIANT work …… The Order of Service – David designed these himself.  I hadn’t seen these until after setting all the flowers up in the church and when I did I couldn’t get over how well they tied in with the stlye of the flowers.

Sarah’s bouquet – I know, this photo isn’t great, it doesn’t do her beaufiul bouquet justice at all, but it maybe gives you an idea of the wild natural look.

Burning The Midnight Oil

At the end of August, I had the beautiful wedding of Kelly and Steven.

On most occasions when Kelly came to see me, she had her wee woman with her.  Kelly and Steven’s wee girl has to be one of the cutest wee girls I have seen (other than our own wee woman off course).

When it came to doing the flowers for Kellys special day, I was in the heart of the wedding season working both ends of the clock, and I was literally burning the midnight oil to do kelly’s flowers.  Working to 4am in the the morning and up again at 6am to add the finishing touches.  It was definatley well worth it all to see the final results and to work with such beautiful flowers.

Kellys’ Bouquet was a teardrop style – aren’t these orchids with a purple hue just gorg.

Splashes of Colour

This vibrant wedding at the beginning of the month was a beutiful introduction into the changing seasons.

I felt the colour worked lovely with the brightness of summer but in the autumnal colours.

Enjoy the Picnic

I felt really privilaged to be a part of Rachels special day, I have known Rachel for years from going to Primary School together but the journey of life takes us on different paths to built us to the people we become. Our paths met again after my husband and I got married as we began attending the church Rachel attended.

Rachel didn’t miss a thing when it came to organising her wedding, she thought of absolutely everything, she had the detail down to a tea. She is a very creative girl and it certainly shone through.

I absolutely loved her picnic theme wedding so one thing that we certainly needed a lot off and Rachel had a lot of was baskets, I lost count as to how many we were working with.

We kept Rachels flowers county chic and the perfect material we used to accesorise this look was hessian.

I loved Rachel’s bouquet, it was so natural.

20130830_102650 20130830_102655 20130830_102707

Now for the bridesmaids bouquets it would have been so easy to go for similar versions to Rachels on a smaller scale but why do that when you have a basket theme to work with, but instead of using a predictable basket we decided that I would make one out of hessian and lace which was something I was looking forward to the challenge of doing 🙂

20130830_102935 20130830_102942

The bridesmaids baskets had flowers cascading out of them.  I hadn’t seen the girls dresses, but when I did, the style of their flowers worked an absolute treat!

20130830_102829 20130830_102851 20130830_102908

Was lovely to do buttonholes that were a wee change from a traditional rose, Rachel was a brave lady and left it up to me, so I made something to compliment the bridal flowers.

The church was stunning, Rachel had done a fab job in sourcing some of the most gorgeous baskets to decorate it.

Here are some snaps of the displays outside and inside the church and the pewends also.

20130830_101917 20130830_102033

Then on the railing going to the church hall, this wonderful bride came in with something to me to fill which really is the best idea of recycling I have seen yet.  So what to you think you could do with a beans tin?

20130830_101437 20130830_101428 20130830_101401

Class idea or what :).

I got a real sence of satisfaction out of seeing this wedding come together and the joy on Rachels face when she seen her flowers made it all so worthwhile.

I am truly blessed.

Sun, Sea and Sand

Whilst working on the previous weddings, inbetween times I was dabbling away at the flowers for this wedding for the lovely Terri.  Terri is class, she is such a fun happy girl with a love for water, hence her wedding had a beach theme, and if it was possible, a chance of getting married by the water was part of the plan, but the other thing I loved about Terri was she was so open minded because whatever would be would be.  Believe me there was nothing that I wanted more for Terri’s dream to be fullfilled.

Terri’s bridesmaids was soft silvery grey colour, not a colour you would automatically think off, but they were absolutely stunning, the cololur, the stlye the fabric, the detail…..perfect.

Now when it came to the flowers for Terri and her girls and men, once again she was very open minded, with her only request being “colour,” “silk,” and “i’ll leave it with you” so since it was beach themed we definately had to get a few shells in there.

Was lovely to have the chance to create something of a slightly different shape for Terri’s bouquet using the bright pinks, purples and blues with shells which had sheens of these colours coming through.

 DSCN0864DSCN0861

For the Bridesmaids bouquets, we carried the same colours through although changed the shape to round.

DSCN0852

Love the groups of material in the girls bouquets and the effect of seeing something different from every angle you look at them.DSCN0851

DSCN0849

Terri had a little flower girl so we kept it very simple for her the accents coming through from the bridesmaids ie. the shells, pearls and lace.

DSCN0853    DSCN0854

Now the mens buttonholes, how cool are these.  It was class to be able to work with shells for these, couldn’t dream of working with anything else.

DSCN0855 DSCN0857

The day before Terri’s wedding it didn’t give the weather good at all for her day…..

So did Terri get married outside beside the sea??

On her day I couldn’t help from watching the clock and the sky to see if it would clear up in time and YES it did.  I couldn’t have been hppier for her, she derserved it so much.

Thank you Terri for absolutely everthing and for being a joy to work with xx

A Vintage Tea Party

Louise’s wedding reminded me of a vintage tea party with all her mis-matched china which setted the scene perfectly for her vintage inspired wedding.

Unfortunately time didn’t allow me to get photographs of Louise’s bouquets, buttonholes and the church decorated (includeing the vintage bike)  Although I did get some snaps of the reception venue set up with flowers that were used in the church.

Louise’s bridemaids wore a beautiful blue so we decided on teaming it with pinks.

If you can imagine a combination of Hydrangea, Peony, Roses and hints of blue cornflowers, this combination was used in her bouquets which we then carried through to the arrangments and table centres.

Arrangments from the church that was then used to dress the fireplaces at her beautiful venue

DSCN0885 DSCN0871

Top Table arrangement taken from church

DSCN0876

Louise picked up these fab birdcages in the two sizes – small and large.  We used the small ones on her pew ends which was a lovely change to the norm and then used them along with the large ones on the round plates (which the rims reminded me off a lace trimming) for her table centres.  Louise had labels made to name each table after a differnt bird – Great Idea!!

DSCN0874 DSCN0873 DSCN0872 DSCN0870 DSCN0869DSCN0882

Louise’s cake was lovely, the Lace details on it worked a treat with her theme, and the few single rose heads was all it needed to accessorie it.

DSCN0886

Thank you Louise and Graham for choosing me for your beautiful wedding 🙂

Love Divine

When I first met Linzi, it didn’t take long before I felt like I knew her for years.  Linzi is one of the lovliest girls who isn’t only beautiful on the outside but on the inside too.  Linzi put so much thought and effort into making her day so perfect, and her attentention to detail certainly didn’t go un-noticed.

Linzi carried a brooch bouquet which we decided on adding some sweet pea and waxflower too, which really softened it and worked lovely with her vintage themed wedding.

DSCN0827 DSCN0826

Linzi gave me a swatch of the most beautiful duck egg coloured fabric, now to get a duck egg coloured flower is hard to come by so we decided on using pretty pinks with something you wouldn’t automatically think off….A succulent plant which had a good duck egg tone to it which we incorporated in the bridesmaids bouquets.

DSCN0824 DSCN0823 DSCN0822

Flower Girl Pomander to compliment the bridesmids bouquet.  The Flower Girl also wore a circlet in her hair to match the Pomander.

DSCN0821 DSCN0820

Now Linzi’s buttonholes…. I have so say I absolutely loved these.  It was brilliant to use something completely different.  I thought they looked so effective.

DSCN0816 DSCN0817 DSCN0818

Mum’s Wrist Corsages

DSCN0829

Liniz had painted up a couple of these lovely churns which I couldn’t wait to get set up at the church as so many people had their eye on them at the shop I was afraid of them getting picked up.  These were placed outside the church doors which was a nice alternative to trees and then were placed at her reception venue.

DSCN0838

Inside the churh there was a lovely arch, although I must apologise for the very poor photograph, but you get a preview idea.

DSCN0837

And at the front of the church was this arrangement

DSCN0834

Now when I brought the flowers to the reception venue, Linzi had a number of the tables set up and her teapots of flowers were the finishing touches to the scene she had already created.  Her table setting were just gorgeous and from then I had no double she was a girl after my own heart.

Every table was the name of a different hymn which was placed in a frame draped in pearls and a hymn book opened at the hymn.  Her teapots were placed in the centre of these and to tie in s she gave every lady a stunning china cup with a message on a teabag….  How Class Is This!

DSCN0839

And to conclude…. Ok I didn’t make this but I couldn’t resist not to include this in this post, I hope you don’t mind Linzi? But your cake, no other word couldn describe it but STUNNING.  It even had the sheet music of Love Divine on it.  LOVE LOVE LOVE

DSCN0847

Linzi your attentions to detail in this wedding was definitely my cup of tea 😉 .  Thank you soooo much for everthing, you were so lovely to work with and I really enjoyed being a part of your special day. xx

“Its Vintage Darling”

There is a shop by the name of the title which I always thought as a class name.  If your reading this Ann, I just had to long term borrow your shop name for this post as it seemed so appropriate due to the Vintage theme of this wedding.

This is another one from a couple of weeks ago, The very beautiful couple “Heather and Scott.”

It was lovely to get to catch up with Heather and her family again.

I have many childhood memories with Heather’s sister as we were in the same year together at primary school, we were on the bus route together, went to childrens meeting together, visited each others homes and had fun at each others birthday party’s, but like many good childhood friendships, you go to different schools, move to different places and life takes you down different paths. But when we caught up via the route of Heathers wedding, that spark in our friendship was still there. When

Heather approached me about her wedding, her theme was all things vintage.

Heather had already alot of her own we bits and pieces, so we just needed to use the flowers to make it all gel.

Heathers Bouquet was muted tones of pink and ivory

Whilst her gorgous 3 three bridesmaids carried bouquets of mainly ivory with hints of the pinks coming through

20130808_093331 20130808_093245

All her bouquets were bound in hessian overlayed in lace with a twine heart on top.  Quite proud of this touch 🙂

20130808_093140 20130808_093342

Her buttoholes were all cream roses with astilbe, hessian net and twine bows
